Wow. I was going to see him the fall before Covid and couldn't get my act together in time to get tickets.

I have seen him many times. Sad day for sure. He seemed so healthy in his latest videos.

Rest in Peace, Chick. Thanks for all the incredible, ground breaking music.

That’s a huge bummer. Seen him many times. RTF was probably the most played stuff on my record player in college. Some great you tube performances out there.

I think I first came across him on Times Lie, a Stan Getz album, which was basically Return to Forever + Stan.

            I was only joking

RIP. I wasn't a big fan but really did like the way he reworked a couple of Scriabin's preludes. Very tasteful.

I’ve seen him live and I seem to remember enjoying. In my younger years romantic warrior was an album I listened to. But honestly did not delve into his work too deeply.

A bit too electronic for me. I prefer the jazz standards of Keith Jarrett

Listen to the cool things he does with the rhythm at about 0:50

@george-k here is Chick and Keith Jarrett (Retired at 75 due to complications of stroke) playing Mozart Piano Concerto No.10 in E-Flat major for two piano KV365 (361a)

                    Link to video

An old video with no so great quality but, these two people were masters of the keyboard no matter what they played.

When people come over your house and see your piano and ask you to play something, that piece by Chic Corea is EXACTLY what you should play. Light, airy, kind of simple in it's way, inviting, yet astoundingly beautiful. Yet nobody but a really brilliant artist can actually do something like that. It's what makes the piano such an annoying instrument to play.

Flushing the toilet is like practicing the piano; you just cannot go too long without doing it.--Axtremus

First class arrangement and interpretation. What TomK said too. Sigh.

I also really like Corea’s arrangements of the Scriabin preludes. Especially the E minor

In a different vein, this was my first contact with Chick Corea and one of his better known compositions, I think I first heard it on vinyl in about 1979. Dig the funky modern technology!

What a lineup - Stan Getz representing the old guard with Corea, Stanley Clarke and Tony Williams. I know, it's mostly saxophone, but we need a bit of balance....

                                  @Doctor-Phibes , that's great!
Love that Stan Getz Quartet video.
Every artist performed great individually and the entire band performed great as an ensemble.
The music itself, as a composition, is a masterpiece.
I suspect this will be the rare few pieces that I can listen to many times and still be awed and entertained every time for a long time.

When I was a teen, returns to forever’s romantic warrior was the go to “get stoned” music.

                                      was? 🤣
