        I wonder how her husband is doing. Haven’t heard much of him recently, but we’d hear if he died.

                            That's one of my favourite Shakespearean quotes.

                            It's ironic how many people piled on with her, and also how many people who are now piling on against her probably had no freaking idea where the quote came from, either.

                            I can't speak for the rest of the country, but my kids have been far too busy learning about America to do much Shakespeare.

                                      I know that there's a famous writer of that name, but I still don't get it. Maybe I'm missing background on Faulkner (which doesn't extend much beyond knowing the name).

                                        OK, I see, it seems to be a confusion around a novel by Faulkner, "The Sound and the Fury", whose title was inspired by Shakespeare.

                                          Bottom line - Faulkner ripped off a Shakespearean line, and now the yanks are trying to pretend they invented it.
