They opened at 8 AM. Looks like they're doing about 150 an hour at 30 tables.

I'm impressed with how organized it was. It's all being done on the 3rd floor of
Nuts and ButtsThe Woman's Hospital/Institute of Psychiatry. We arrived 10 min before our scheduled time (12:15) and there was no line. You register at one of 20 tables, with guides telling you which one is open. Having registered and scheduled your next injection you go to the actual room. A wrangler says "See the guy with the yellow pom-pom? Go to that table."Yeah, there was a guy waving a yellow pom-pom.
Read disclaimers, get the shot. Downstairs to 2nd floor for a 15 minute "observation" and out the door.
From our condo to downtown and home took about 90 minutes for the whole thing.

Here's the interesting thing: She got notified to schedule on Monday AM. We went ahead and booked an appt for today, Wednesday.
Easy-peasy!
I got notified yesterday (Tuesday) AM. I tried to book, and there's nothing available through April.
We asked about that and we were told that they will probably open up spots on Friday AM once they know how much vaccine is available.
Looks like, at the rate they're going, they do about 1,300 per day.

@jon-nyc we're transferring all of our care to Northwestern. It is, after all "home" for me.
All of our encounters there have been efficient, courteous, and, most importantly, high-quality care.
We used to have our docs in the 'burbs. However, my internist (whom I've known since 1976) just retired, and my thought was, if I need a new doc, let's go downtown. The difference in drive (assuming there's no traffic) is only 10 minutes, and add another 10 minutes for parking etc. So it's only another 20 minutes vs what we had. I can make that kind of time in my busy schedule.
They run a very good shop.

Downtown.
The Evanston facility is now associated with the University of Chicago (money, you know). It has been for about 15 years.
It's really a quick drive downtown for us. When I worked there, I planned on a 35 minute drive if I left at 6:15. That got me there in plenty of time to start the day.
Now, any time after 9AM, it's still about 30-35 minutes. Totally doable.

Yeah. I'm trying to consolidate my non-transplant care with Columbia.
Today I was at urgent care belonging to another system, which sent me to one of their hospitals for some radiology. At least if it were at Columbia then Duke would have access to it (their epic installations are linked).
The good thing about Columbia is they have a doctors office in Westchester with radiology. Not too many specialists there, but I can do basic stuff there and only go into the city occasionally.

I got my first shot Friday, and had a similar experience. Very well organized, no line, lots of people along the way to direct you to the right place to be and usher you in and out (after your 15 min. observation time post-shot). They had people sign up right there in the 15 min. waiting area for their second shot. This was organized by my county´s Health Department, administered at the local community college.
My colleagues who live in the neighboring county (where I actually work) have NOT had a similar experience. Many hours spent searching for appointments, sometimes getting an appointment only to be turned away at the door because the county is not yet ready to move on to vaccinating educators (even though we are back in the classroom with our kids).

Yeah. 2nd dose is March 3, at noon.

Same with the Cook County website. I was able to find a slot, and it timed out.I'll wait for Northwestern.

Being able to access your EPIC stuff is very good. Is there also a continuum of care agreement of some kind?

Everything from my old doc (yeah, "old" in both senses) is accessible to my new young (and pretty!) doc. She sees it all and it works well.
My old hospital, where I worked and had a TON of labs, uses Cerner, and yeah, they don't talk to EPIC.
