Fences. Razor wire. 7000 troops. Pelosi wanting crew-served weapons.

BTW, that last one is interesting...The only reason you use heavy machine guns is to mow swaths of people down and to defeat light armor.

What threats have we seen in the last month that warrants the troops?

When they're defending federal courthouses on the West Coast, they're stormtroopers.

When they're positioned in DC, with no obvious threat, they're defending democracy.

      That right, citizen?

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I said back at the time that I would wait to reserve judgment on this. So okay, I'm judgin'.

I find it weird there's absolutely no talk of the requirements they think they need to release the troops and remove the barriers.

Then again, this is what America does. After 9/11, there wasn't a train station in the country that didn't have guys with submachine guns hanging out in every major hallway. We freak out over shit like this, that's what we do.

I also don't buy the idea that American sheeple are just going to believe, say, eleven months down the line, after tourism returns to DC in full, that these barricades are for everyone's protection. If nothing changes, people are going to start complaining. It just might take the average DC citizen a lot longer to get to that point than some of you folks.

        Please love yourself.

My take...The upper class elite is scared shitless of the hoi polloi.

I think it's overkill too but I can't help but ask what's so salient about a month? Why not 26.5 days? Why not 60 days?

Sort of reminds me of those pieces that talk about how little Islamic terrorism we've had on our soil since 9/12/01

            You were warned.

It reinforces the idea that the insurrection was more than just a few doofusses taking selfies.

It makes the Capitol look like there must have been a serious threat.

The blatant hypocrisy is staggering, when this response is compared to the pearl clutching around any law enforcement in response to the BLM riots. This is propaganda, at its finest, and yes TDS is an important ingredient. You need that seed of hatred so this sort of messaging sticks. Humans will never change. They will always be programmable primates, who believe and feel what the prominent cultural messagers intend for them to believe and feel.

                Education is extremely important.

Seems like hypocrisy only if the situations were the same and the actors were the same. Both are demonstrably false.

                  You were warned.
