Changing emails?

A friend is getting spam emails from various, uh, unsavory, sites (porn and stuff like that). Apparently, someone who holds a grudge against my friend was able to guess the gmail address that's being used, and has signed up for all kinds of this crap.
My friend uses this email for all kinds of professional stuff. Yeah, it's easily.guessed@gmail.com.
So, going forward, how much of a hassle is it to change all your professional emails to another (not easily guessed) email address?

Would this miscreant ever get access to the new email? If so I’d just keep unsubscribing and bump up spam filter.

The original email was guessed through FB relationships. It wasn't that hard, of course.
I suggested the new email add something unguessable (like a birth year, or an old street address number).

Getting the new email out to legit contacts should not be difficult, but professional organizations that might list it could be trickier.

But I’d try spam filter first.
