You could read it that way, and many will. Many also read that he toldwhite supremacists at the Charlottesville thing that they were very fine people.
Those are not the same thing. I don't actually know whether Trump is a racist or not, but I've certainly heard him pander to people's xenophobia. His early speeches about Mexican immigrants were extremely depressing.
Of course, you can choose to interpret what he says differently, and make excuses for his pandering. It's easy to avoid being painted as overly woke, and make excuses for the fact that he's a cunt.
Politicians pander. I think most people know that. But I think the border issue, which every country deals with, was always an ignored one, before Trump came along, and I don't mind the direction it went. Open borders may be good, in fact I'm aware of some particularly savvy people who believe that, but I'm not entirely convinced of that. Neither is pretty much any other country. I'm sorry about the "rapists" rhetoric, it was too far.

Just realize we all have our weightings of whether our country is being destroyed, and not everybody who doesn't land in your same spot is evil.

Pop culture was united against Donald Trump, for any reasonable definition of pop culture. MSM, movies, television, big tech. Not completely united, but yes, the elites were mostly united against him.
