Why should Washington DC be a state?
Why shouldn't they be?
(I dont have an opinion on it. Seems like it has worked without a state for long long time, but I am not sure the reason to change it now)

Not a very good reason. It should not be done then.

Again, fold most of it into Maryland.
In exchange, you take Hagerstown, MD and through Cumberland, MD and fold it into PA. Oh, and Philly is now in New Jersey.

Hey jackass, you get all the way to Cumberland and you still have 68+ miles of state to the west of you.
Also, Maryland doesn't want DC. Neither does VA. Huge, huge financial sink.

Copper's a Trumpster. Ask the people in DC why they want to be a state. This shit has been going on for decades. It's literally on their damn license plates.

That’s just @Copper’s view. I look at it as the people of DC also deserving equal representations in both chambers of Congress.
The Republicans oppose DC statehood because they just assume that DC will elect Democratic Senators. That’s a shortsighted partisan view that should not stand in the way of DC getting equal representation in Congress. The better attitude is to acknowledge the people of DC deserving equal representation and work to earn their votes just like you earn other states’ votes.

It's all about the senators, nothing else.
This has been going on for decades.
They were offered citizenship and voting rights in Maryland many times many years ago.
This has nothing at all to do with some kind of sacred voting right enshrined in the holy constitution.
Does anyone really think that the citizens of the district don't get enough representation or federal money?
They operate a drug-filled, failed, corrupt crime-town, there is no need for more local government.

Again, Maryland does not want DC. That was never an option.

And this is why I don't take your political views at all seriously.

Maryland was and is still an option
It is certainly a more likely option than statehood

This is a generous assessment
Follow the money, look at graduation rates and standardized test scores. You want more of this?
