What are you playing these days in PianoLand?

My piano is terribly out-of-tune - but I'm working on el Puerto from Iberia. I'm not sure this is a piece I'm capable of bringing to a satisfactory level, but you don't know till you try. I learned Evocation about 30 years ago - and love that work - seems like I should progress in that volume. At present rate, I should finish the entire Iberia suite about the time Captain Kirk takes command of the Enterprise.
I recently also learned the Gavotte from the 5th Suite, a tuneful work and easy to play and memorize.

For the last few days my focus was on making a semi-decent recording of the Chopin g minor Ballade. I worked on it with Jon a few years ago and want to bring it to a new level now. I'm happy with the progress, but today I found out that my complete negligence of the "easy" parts was maybe not the best idea.
Also working on the Fantasy-Impromptu, some Debussy, a Mendelssohn Etude, and two Rachmaninoff pieces.

There's a piano arrangement of Fritz Kreisler's "Praeludium and Allegro in the style of Pugnani", a piece originally written for violin. Kreisler pulled off the hoax of claiming to use themes of Baroque composers when, in fact, he wrote the music himself. In any event, I like this piece.

@sd-tav That's an interesting piece. I like it. I fell in love with the Kreisler-Rachmaninoff Liebesleid after hearing Nikita Magaloff perform it. I've been
attempting toplay it for the past 30 years. The good news is that it isthankfullygetting better.BTW, do you still live in Chicago? Did you study with someone in Chicago?

@kluurs I only visited Chicago a few times years ago when my oldest brother was working on his DMA in organ at Northwestern. That’s how I could hear Horowitz. My hometown is Cincinnati. BTW, I also want to learn the Kreisler-Rachmaninoff Liebesleid. You know there are lots of good performances on YouTube, but believe it or not the one by Victor Borge is one of my favorites. He was a legit pianist.
