Oh, I did not see that, George. Ridiculous.

Keep it below 150 yards, use a really good bullet with correct shot placement and an AR will kill deer.

I stopped reading at the first state:

While this list is lengthy, it does not include categories like pistols, which make up a large percentage of the guns in the U.S.

In other words: "Our list of 'armed' is worthless."

Why is that? Isn't it reasonable to assume that weapon ownership in general correlates well with pistol ownership?

In the US only about 3% of firearm-related deaths are due to rifles and other such weapons. 97% are due to handguns. If your list doesn't include about 90% of the population that you're sampling, it's a bullshit list. I know half a dozen people who own pistols only. They would not be counted.

But this is only about an ordering of the US states. It is not about determining the total amount of weapons. It's about who has fewer and who has more weapons.

Let's say you want to rank-order US states by possession of luxury sports cars, but you only have data about the possession of Porsche cars. Don't you think that the order determined by the Porsche data will be quite similar to the order you'd get if you had the data about all luxury sports cars?

It's a more generic question. A list of states which are "heavily armed" should include handguns, should it not?

To apply your analogy, a list of "which states have the most cars" and only counts Audis Porsches would have the same flaw.

Currently, I only have handguns. 3 1/2 to be exact.

That is changing though. Shotguns and Rifles are on the acquisition list.

"For every 1,000 residents in Rhode Island, there are 3.8 guns."

I'd take that statistic with a pinch of salt. Those eejits don't even know what an Island is, never mind a gun. Plus, they don't know how to spell 'Road'. They're probably confusing hand-gun with hand-job.

                          I was only joking
