You often (correctly) point out that it’s not enough to disavow the violent bits of the Antifa riots, the left needs to recognize the role they played in creating it.

I think the same applies to you in this case.

Ok then, prescribe for me the way to live a life, while accepting you participate one way or another. What do I need to do to convince people they shouldn't maraud the capitol? Vote for Hillary in 2016?

It's a good question, even if it was meant as a deflection.

It might be easier for you to think about what you'd expect the average left leaning guy to do to put the brakes on illiberal left. Of course if you start thinking about that seriously the first barrier you hit is the futility of one guy without a platform trying to do anything at all.

But if you imagine 100k such people out there, what should they do? Probably remain on their own side and just call bullshit on their own side's bullshit whenever they can, without trying to trivialize it or sweep it under the rug as not really that important. I aspire to that and no doubt you've seen me attempt it on the tiny platform next door. (that's not a claim that I'm the perfect exemplar of what to do)

89 is a great example of that on the right. And no, he didn't vote Hilary in 2016, I'm sure of it.

    You were warned.

By the way, did you listen to Sam's podcast from the other day? Its a monologue, only 30m or so.

Our next President saying Romney is going to put people back in chains. Very nice. Not inciteful at all. I guess he is allowed to use really racist language.

89 may be conservative in his world, but not in mine. You'd be considered so far on the Left, people would have you tested for rabies before letting you in the front door.😄

Personally I've found 89th's feelings about Trump to be irrational hatred on many occasions, but he's probably to the political right within the context of America's 300 million people. It's a pretty comfortable place to be, and I don't blame him. But nor do I take the hatred seriously. Trump hatred has spanned the spectrum, and must be considered normal.

That said, I never saw a vote for Trump forthcoming in 2020 from 89th, based on what he said about him.
