    I’m sorry, but the way GWB was treated by the media, Hollywood, pop culture, and the left in general is exactly why we are where we are. So to see them now holding him up as an example is sofucking ludicrous that it makes my head spin.

    I'm sorry too, because you're delusional if you think that was a greater influence over today's events than Trump's constant poisonous rhetoric over the past three months.

    Why does Trump’s rhetoric work with these people? Why do they take his word as absolute truth? Trump was 25% of what happened today. He was the catalyst, he incited it (and deserves serious criminal charges to be filed) but the majority of today was about something much deeper.

    Trump just rode these emotions and used these people to mutual benefit, but the overall cause of this anger and distrust is still there.

      @jolly indeed.

      Remember when "Sir" Paul McCartney commented that "It's nice to have a president who knows where the library is"?

      Yeah, regarding the man whose wife was a librarian and had a contest with his chief of staff about who read the most books, that week.

      Why did you put the Sir in quotation marks? Dude's a fucking knight of the realm.

              Absolutely. This is a problem that goes back several presidential elections. What's interesting to me is how people let their biases decide who was acting deliberately and autonomously, and who is just a symptom or victim of the Bigger Issue.

              The Bigger Issue is who I want to blame. It's the group or person who acted autonomously and started this. They chose their actions. The left is the Bigger Issue here.

              Donald Trump is not my Bigger Issue. So he's merely a symptom. He is who he is. You can only expect Donald Trump to do what Donald Trump does. And how his supporters have acted is only natural. All their actions and decisions couldn't have happened any other way because they aren't my Bigger Issue.

              The people I don't like got the ball rolling and everyone else's responses have been natural and understandable. Political predeterminism.

              Please love yourself.

                  Absolutely it is and we love that shit!

                  It's the Right's favorite game. That thing you don't like? See if you really understood history and politics, you'd understand that it all started 4-8 years prior, when the people I don't like were running things. If you knew more you'd understand that.

                  The left's favorite game is even more fucked. See that thing you don't like? The source of the problem is the same as with the things I don't like: white people. Guys mostly, but we're expanding our Bigger Issue to white women (we call them Karens) and maybe Asians this year.

                  Please love yourself.

                    No, Trump and those who enabled Trump brought us to where we are today. GWB says something reasonable today so he gets credit for that today. GWB looks better today only in contrast to Trump who looks very bad. Ask "the media" or Hollywood if you want, they will continue to rank GWB behind everyone every POTUS from Reagan onwards EXCEPT Trump, like they have been doing well before today.

                            What gives me hope about there being a future past the 20th is just how few people here believe this kind of thing. Most people aren't crazy. Most conservatives aren't. The sore losers might try some shit but at least there will be heightened security later in the month and Trump basically has no legitimate backers.
