Lab Leak?

@lufins-dad said in Lab Leak?:
There WAS absolute proof a year ago that China was hiding the severity of the outbreak, the timing of the outbreak, and had silenced quite a few Chinese scientists and Doctors. There was also absolute proof that WHO knowingly assisted China in the coverup.
We responded appropriately by ending our funding of WHO. Of course, Uncle Joe gave them the money again plus interest...
I agree with what you said, It is for sure that China was/is covering up stuff.
But I am interested to see see peoples opinions on how they think things would have changed in the US (or the world) if we knew for sure that COVID was caused by a lab leak vs. natural occurring.
The last few posts seem to say that there was a coverup in the US about the origins of the COVID. What would this have changed? Would President Trumps response have been different? Would the world response have been different?

If it was obvious that the virus was naturally occurring, and therefore equally obvious that anybody thinking it was manmade in China was a laughable conspiracy theorist, then Trump and his supporters could be marginalized as laughable conspiracy theorists. And, of course, also racist.
A China-made virus would have made people in America circle the wagons a little bit more than they did. Battles against nature are accepted as normal, but a battle against a disease created by a geopolitical adversary would have brought American culture together, if only a little bit. It would have been good for Trump.

Like everything in the US, it has to be seen as being a Democrat or Republic issue. Why??
Please answer me this: If there was absolute proof a year ago that the COVID was the product of a Chinese laboratory, how would that have changed President Trumps (and the US) response to the pandemic?
How would it have changed the world response?
It seems very nave to think that this information was "suppressed" for some reason.

The left loves to paint a conservative-leaning idea as a ridiculous conspiracy theory, then marginalize anybody willing to consider it. It's a go-to move for them. It even regularly happens right here on TNCR.
Can you imagine at the beginning of a global pandemic where the replication and death rates are not well understood and ground zero is next to a bio containment lab studying gain of function for SARS and the first response by the WHO is NOT to send in a team of scientists to the lab to study the origins. AND China does everything it can to prevent it.
That really happened right under our nose and half our country thinks that’s okay- why ? because the media was the lobbyist firm to sell the concept that there was nothing to see in the Wuhan lab.
Hopefully history will correct this wrong such that future pandemics may be addressed better.

It’s absolutely horrific that so many scientists and researchers are taking part in what’s really clearly a disinformation campaign orchestrated by the Chinese Communist Party, and willfully spreading a smokescreen about something that’s already killed thousands and is projected to kill millions more across the planet.

Former MI6 boss says theory COVID-19 came from Wuhan lab must not be dismissed as conspiracy
"I subscribe to the theory… that it's an engineered escapee from the Wuhan Institute (of Virology)," said Sir Richard, who served as head of the Secret Intelligence Service, MI6, between 1999 and 2004.
"I am not saying anything other than it was the result of an accident and that the virus is the consequence of gain-of-function experiments that were being conducted in Wuhan, which I don't think are particularly sinister."
Sir Richard was referring to a type of scientific research that can be carried out to modify viruses.
Ahem...
Any evidence of a lab leak that may have caused the Covid-19 pandemic would likely have been destroyed by Chinese officials by now, a former MI6 chief has claimed.
Sir Richard Dearlove said it would now be difficult to prove that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was working on “gain of function” experiments to make a novel coronavirus.
“We don’t know that’s what’s happened – but a lot of data have probably been destroyed or made to disappear so it’s going to be difficult to prove definitely the case for a ‘gain of function chimera’ being the cause of the pandemic,” he said.
The scientific community remains divided over how plausible it is that the virus began with a research lab leak, but president Joe Biden’s call for more US investigations into the origins of Covid-19 has rekindled interest in the theory.

This guy's been retired for 17 years. Do you really think he knows something we don't? Well, apart from how to get his name in the papers and get paid for it, obviously.

So, I have 12 years to catch up, LOL.
Do you really think he knows something we don't?
Maybe, maybe not. He probably knows people that we don't. Maybe they told him something that they didn't tell us?
He might well be jumping on the "leak bandwagon" as you infer. I'll reserve judgment as to whether he's right for a few
monthsyears. -

monthsyears.I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this thing leaked from the Wuhan lab, but I don't think it's clear at this point. Lots of people on both sides seem to be very certain - but of course that's nothing new.
