Lo, no accord shall bloom 'twixt us and that realm, save they do kneel in token of their utter, soul-deep shame! No parley shall we hold, no treaty sign, until their will is broken, and their strength doth lie as dust before our might. -DJT, 3/6/26

@jon-nyc One of humanity's finer traditions is drawing tidy imperial lines across untidy peoples and then describing the resulting violence as some mysterious local defect.

Or letting the untidy peoples come in and draw the lines themselves.

@jon-nyc Quite. Then one gets the deluxe edition: local strongmen doing the imperial cartography themselves, with all the confidence of authenticity and none of the administrative modesty.

Going by that sort of calculation, a 3 ounce serving of beef may well exceed 5 petabytes of “data.” Most people have no problem swallowing that. May be more interesting to compare “compressed data.”

@Axtremus not so sure about that. If men keep it zipped up, there’s not going to be any data transfer at all.
