“ But this occurrence provides our leadership team an important opportunity to review and improve the safety and process of vaccination for each West Virginian."
If it wasn’t so sad, I’d be laughing my ass off

In parts of Florida the health department just announced first come first serve for seniors.
So they were camping out overnight. Many unmasked. A total clusterfuck. Other Florida counties did a better job of it.
“This is worth it,” said 80-year-old Aaron Stern, who said he’d never camped out for concert tickets or Black Friday deals.

Talk about vaccine rollout fuck ups
And 40 nameless people who aren't going to get Regeneron, which is still in limited supply.

Doses were on the verge of expiring so they gave them to all comers.

@jon-nyc btw that’s done here if a vaccination center is, for some reason low on people coming, and doses about to expire, the municipality sends a Whatspp message to all its residents saying anyone who can to come for a shot. I even heard of one place who had one shot remaining and saw a pizza delivery guy outside and draggged him in for its final dose of the day. No shot gets undelivered.

It’s clearly the right thing to as opposed to waste the shot, but it seems like it should be avoidable? I get that some of these specialized freezer containers for the Pfizer vaccine hold a set amount of doses and not every location is large. But I knew about that in October, why didn’t they?

@jon-nyc because people are unpredictable.
U can’t always know the percentage of people who defer vaccinations for whatever reason, pregnancies, allergies, or just on principle.
You can assume a vaccination rate, say 70% but u can’t plan down to the individual dose

Get the vaccine out
Worry about a few cheaters later
And don't punish the people trying to do the job

Eye on the prize. Make the pie bigger as opposed to re-allocating the little one right now. I just don’t get it.
If this is the crisis of the century follow the UK lead. It’s so weird.

Odd how silent Trump has been about this. Other than his one ‘not my problem’ tweet a few days ago.

But I do think you are underestimating the impact of using politics rather than epidemiology to determine the vaccine prioritization. We really are putting tens of millions of young, healthy people in front of those that are truly at risk.
Given the number of vaccines we have, it is a delay measured in months not days or weeks for that at-risk population.

Many argue those are the super spreaders. Rather than argue that just give me and any who sign off on it the astra zeneca vaccine. That vaccine alone sounds like could save 100k lives the way things are going. I refuse to believe anymore there is a real priority on saving lives. And the articles over who got or didn’t get the vaccine while Rome is burning is one of the strangest things I have seen in my life.
