I'm pretty sure Dewey was driven off by a bunch of assholes.
I'm pretty sure that a bunch of assholes would have the opposite effect ......

Also, we're all happy for Mel Gibson, but Dewey is a sociopath?
lol
-
Horace, in your opinion is Donald Trump a sociopath?
-
@horace said in The circular firing squad:
@jon-nyc No, he isn't. He raised good kids.
Yet you suspect Dewey kids are good.

Sure, most people are decent, I believe that. Whomever they are raised by.

I have met KathyK and Jack Front in person. I have also met KathyK's new beau, I believe it was at one of @jon-nyc's piano parties. I have also met David Burton. Sure we disagree at times on politics or conspiracy theories, but we got along pretty damn fine when we talk about music and piano, family and such.
I think if we were all in a big pile, "all" including everyone... there would be several here who think I'm an asshole who would go home later saying "actually he turned out to be a very nice guy, a lot of fun." A few others would go home saying "I wanted to hit him but i wouldnt have lived long enough to tell anyone about it".....
And I would enjoy everyone of you with the following exceptions: the instant I saw Kathy K I would slap her unconscious and there's not enough of you to stop me. Jack Frost and Andy D would either leave the minute they saw me, or at the very least just get real quiet in hopes that they got out alive. I'd get along fine with Ax as long as he did t start one of those epileptic seizures he calls piano pkaying... but the entire evening I'd be flipping his ears and stuff like that because,.. well, that's just what you do with a guy like Ax.....
Other than those exceptions I'd enjoy everyone...

I'm apostate too, presumably.
Why Phibes, I didn't know that. We share so much in common. When did they remove yours?

Hey Jolly,
I really like this one. Not sure what it all means, but it sounds bad-ass and "say what?" all in one:
3. Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
Here's the HCSB, which may help:
3 This saying is trustworthy:[a] “If anyone aspires to be an overseer, he desires a noble work.” 2 An overseer, therefore, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, sensible, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher,[b] 3 not addicted to wine, not a bully but gentle, not quarrelsome, not greedy— 4 one who manages his own household competently, having his children under control with all dignity. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a new convert, or he might become conceited and fall into the condemnation of the Devil. 7 Furthermore, he must have a good reputation among outsiders, so that he does not fall into disgrace and the Devil’s trap.
Back to the KJV...Deacons don't get off lightly, either:
8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. -
The assholes are so easy to pick out in this thread.

I think Dewey is doing what he believes is right. If you don't agree, you don't need to listen.
That's not quite right. Let us consider Luke and the words of Christ:
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?What are the fruits? Breaking up a family, not providing for them as he could (I Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.) and the sin of a practicing homosexual.
So, we're not looking at motives, but at actual unrepentent sin preaching from the pulpit.
And that's just wrong and should be labeled as such.

Yes, we certainly have one participating now.
