It’s rather prejudicial of the letter’s author to simply assume that the lightings are “Christmas lights.” S/he needs to be more openminded and consider the possibility that the lightings may not be religious in nature at all. Maybe the homeowners should put up more lights to clarify their messages?

How can you possibly say that? The letter talks about 'we' a lot. It's inclusive.

I do however find the spelling of "colorful" to be pretty fucking offensive. The rest of the English-speaking world manages to use the 'u', after all.

Crazy. I put a ton of Christmas lights up this year. They are pretty and festive. And we aren’t religious. Lots of folks here have put up more lights than they normally do. They went up earlier too.

The word "systemic bias" is pretty much a giveaway for the rest. It suggests a whole set of beliefs I do not share.
