Anybody warm their mugs before pouring? Man, that brightens the whole cup!

Yep. Why lose all that heat energy?

For me I’m either drinking the cup on a timely basis or over a long period of time in which case I use a thermal cup. I don’t have a use case for in between and mostly I use the thermal cup (think Yetti).

It’s not just about heat retention. The coffee just plain tastes better.

Then you have to stick your left finger in your right ear while you drink it (I cleaned that last bit up a bit) and sing the words of Land of Hope and Glory to the tune of God Save the Queen.
Oddly enough, it does seem to work.

I do that with espresso cups. It makes a big difference due to the small amount of liquid.
Coffee right out of the machine is too hot anyway, hence I don't mind if it's cooled a little in the mug.

Green tea:
Pour boiling water in an unwarned glass pitcher. Let sit for 1:30 to achieve desired temperature. Pour indirectly into clay pot, brew 20+5N seconds, where N is the number of previous infusions.Black tea:
You know what I should be embarrassed enough, what the hell have I become. -

No, it's just that water under rage can do some serious damage.

I imagine the pitchers in Aqua's house are surprised on a fairly regular basis.
