The other thing I’m happy about is the recognition that Biden stands for defense of our democratic institutions, such that lawyers that are attacking them are perceived to be working contra his interest.

"Mr. President-Elect! Are you going to condemn and disavow these violent threats against a member of President Trumps legal team?"
I’m really happy we’re back to having expectations that a President should speak out about incivility.

Really?
Look at the dozens of times President Trump was asked to speak out against incivility, which he did, even while being occasionally impolite.
C'mon, chump! Don't be a dog-faced lying pony soldier, or I'll make you feel my hairy legs. Maybe challenge you to a pushup contest.

George - here’s what I mean - did it ever cross your mind to expect Trump to distance himself from the threats against the PA and GA Secretaries of State?
Hell, even hoping he didn’t pile on would have seemed like an unreasonable expectation. Well, not unreasonable, just an expectation likely to be dashed.

Let's go back to the days when the State of the Union address was thrown in the trash while still in one piece.

My point was that the good old days weren't. Maybe America sucks now, as some here seem to think, but it sure sucked then.

Not for them, though, hence the bias.

Jolly - what does the mayor of Portland have to do with this? I thought we were taking about President Elect Biden.

Biden doesn't even recognize Antifa as an organization.

You have GOT to be joking. There's no way you are that tone deaf. You simply have GOT to be making a joke.
Trump could take lessons from Biden on incivility. The most uncivil person to hold that office in my lifetime was Obama. It's funny how this works - a democrat says something rude or sarcastic and the media ignores it and reminds everyone what a charming, articulate, dignified, wonderful, just all around perfect person he is. He can do no wrong. But a Republican can make a single minor comment the media can take out of context and the media spends hours and hours a day for months portraying him as the devil incarnate. I expect low information voters and goofballs like Ax and Sock to Falk for it, but you're not that dumb.

It's amusing watching people who gladly accepted "adults in the whitehouse" bragging via the NYT that they are actively subverting the duly elected president, now pretend to give a flying fuck about our institutions. Backbones require a backbone, otherwise they aren't bakbones.

Horace wants to know whattabout the anonymous op-ed???
Interesting thing about that - the guy’s identity was revealed and he was oversold by the NYT. He was a deputy or assistant director of the DHS or something like that. Didn’t even work in the White House.

No, I didn't want to know. I was interested to know your reaction, along with every other TDS sufferer in the country, to this direct undermining of our institutions.
