It is already an improvement over the then candidate Trump’s promise to pay legal fees for people to exact violence on those protesting his rallies. After Trump lowering the bar that much, no wonder you lost faith so much that you need to hear the President-Elect condemn and disavow violent threats. Worry not, I am quite sure the President-Elect will not offer to pay legal fees for those making violent threats against Trump’s legal team.

special pleading, which is a classical logical fallacy, is what "whataboutism" is attempting to address. I'm trying to say that whataboutism is not always special pleading. Sometimes it compares apples to apples, and then the interlocutor should probably have something to say.

If that story is actually true, then those engaged in that are wrong, and should be condemned for it. There's 2 problems with the story, however. First, the sour e of the story is unreliable and very biased. If other news sources were covering the story too I might accept it as true. But I can't find any other media reporting this, so it may not even be true. Second, there is a huge difference between a group that rarely ever engages in threats or violence having a few bad actors make threats, and a group that routinely makes threats and engages in violence on a daily basis.
But as I said, if it's true it should be condemned. I'm just not convinced it's true, and if it is true it's out of character for the right side and doesn't equate with the Left side who do this sort of thing on a daily basis.

They’d believe that Dominion is responsible for years of illegitimate leaders. Wouldn’t cracking some eggs be worth rooting out that sort of sedition?

Hell, even hoping he didn’t pile on would have seemed like an unreasonable expectation. Well, not unreasonable, just an expectation likely to be dashed.
