In this case, I support Melania.
White House holiday decoration reveal is a distraction anyway, and I hope this "tradition" goes away. -

So what happens now? An underling does the unveiling? No decorations? Pence unveils?

Yet here's coverage of Melania welcoming the WH Christmas tree:

Why the hell would she bother with this for all the crap she's gotten for the Rose Garden and past years? Fuck 'em.

I like Melania's new Rose Garden redesign.
I don't think she needs to do something or not do something because of what other people said in the media or on the Internet, certainly not when it's not public policy.
Sure, Rose Garden redesign and White House holiday decoration involves tax payer funds, but there is enough leeway built into the appropriation of these funds that I do not begrudge what Melania has done (with the Rose Garden) or decided not to do (with the holiday decoration). -

Do they pay First Ladies anything? They seem to get an awful lot of shit, when their only sin is being married to POTUS.
She should be able to do what she damn well pleases.

Poor girl was only first lady for four years. Epic fail.

I would retort is that the case why your wife married you, but I won't. Or, maybe you married your wife for her money, but I wouldn't say that, either.
Just trying to rise to the level of class in the room.

I'm not just talking about Melania. It seems like all the first ladies end up getting a fair amount of shit.
I once found myself in a discussion with somebody on Facebook, who said, pretty much word for word "Anyway, they should have more respect for the First Lady, and leave them alone. It's not like she's as bad as that POS Michelle!"

I think First Ladies are generally off limits, unless they wade into the political battles.

Yes, exactly.
Mrs. Trump should certainly be, at worst, left alone.
Mrs. Obama played politics, she is fair game.
Mrs. Bush, leave her alone.
Mrs. Clinton? Don't get me started.
Previous Mrs. Bush? It was best not to mess with her.

I thought the amount of shit that she got for her Christmas decorations (and the rose garden) was completely unfair. I actually liked what she did, decorations wise. The garden too.

I give that marriage about a year after they leave the WH. Seems to me she made her distaste for her husband too obvious to hide, but couldn’t exit the marriage as long as they were White House residents.
Now my guess is she’ll take Barron and get the hell away,

It was totally unfair. The Rose Garden was I think opened up for more distance due to COVID and frankly it made sense not to have a lot of shade trees in a rose garden.

She is the wife of TDS
To some that is all that matters
I'm sure they have a very happy and fulfilling union.

Personally, I think the best thing we can do for Melania is to leave her alone. I don't think she wants our attention. Whether she stays with Trump or leave, I do not think that will impact me one way or another.

Melania Trump's comments wrt politics have always struck me as being awkward. I don't want to say insincere, but just...not heartfelt. I don't know if it's because of her accent or her speechwriters. Always looked a bit uncomfortable and strained.
And, as long as we're talking about it, I have to wonder why she married DJT in the first place. I wouldn't marry him for all the money in the world.
