No Christian will ever tell you they think they are a better person than you because they are a Christian. In fact many would tell you they aren't as good as you are. Most would tell you they are just the same as you. The difference they will tell you, is that they have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, and their sins are forgiven. The next thing they'd tell you is this is available you you also.

Somewhat related (but not really), I have been surprised in the US when after a sports event, a lot of time, the winning player will say something like - “I thank god for letting me win this game”

Why does god like his team against the other? What does he have against the other side? LOL

He's a very biased God. But yes, it makes me wonder about all the religious zealots who believe Trump was ordained to be President by God. How are they coming to terms with this? Oh yeah, rigged election of course. But God should have been able to unrig it, no?

      He did.

If Mr. Trump loses he will become more powerful than any of us can imagine.

      All part of the plan.

I've got a bad feeling about this.

        I was only joking

But I understood the purpose of the thread. Christians and Christianity are, in the opinion of the Left, to be mocked and ridiculed. So let's just address the original question.

First, one must remember that those who mock Christians are not Christian themselves, so its understandable that the questions they pose as they attempt to make fun are based in ignorance. "Did God want Trump to lose" is making fun of those who said they felt that God wanted Trump to be president. It simply shows that Jon talking about Christians and what they believe is like a man blind from birth describing the color of the sky.

So let's ask "did God want Trump to be president". I have no idea. Neither does any other Christian. The Bible doesn't talk about Trump. Some can feel that's the case, but that's just an opinion. Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong. Here's what we DO know, from scripture: Christians will be mocked and ridiculed for their faith. God has a plan, and he is in control of that plan. It is not a plan for American politics, it is not a plan for republicans or democrats. It is a plan for good over evil, and it involves every single human all over the world. The entire Bible lays out the purpose of that plan, and how that plan ends. It won't be stopped by misinformed Christians who say something silly, it won't be stopped by those who mock and ridicule. It won't be changed by those who decide they have "the answer" about details of the plan.

What we do know from scripture is that there has been a struggle going on between good and evil, and there will come a time when evil will win for a period of time. Hat Jon doesn't understand is that the motivation for those who say God wanted Trump to win is not what he thinks. Their motivation is the fear of having to live through the absolute hell on earth that will come once evil wins. The things Trump fought for are indications that good still has a foothold. But God is in control. Evil only wins because it's part of God's plan, and it will be a very short period.

So did God want Trump to lose? Maybe. Maybe not. God is in control of that, not us. All I know is that if the time is near for evil to win, I'm so so glad I have been redeemed. Because it's going to get very, very rough on us all for a while...

If one believes that everything that happens is because God "wanted" it, then the answer is obviously true, but not very interesting.

If one doesn't believe in God, the answer is "false" and not very interesting either.

But is there somebody who believes that some things happen because God "wants" to whereas others just happen without God being involved? In other words, is this a contingent question? If so, how does one distinguish the two situations?

If I empty thousands of liters of water at the top of a hill, most of that water is going to find its way to the bottom of the hill. What I don’t know is how much water won’t make it, and the exact path that individual drops will taken their way down. That’s the interesting part. And from time to time, I might see some of that water get dammed up by a branches and leaves and may remove that dam... Other times I may see the flow of water overcome the leaves and branches on their own...

The least godly man to ever occupy the oval office has millions of Christians praising him and proclaiming God put him there. The disconnects with the reality of this man are numerous and cult like.

You must have a very advanced sense of godlyness.

Few people are able to measure it precisely.
