But we are also here to provide moral support should you wish to talk about other problems.

We are doing well. We had a wellness check through his work, and they tested for antibodies, and we both have them, he has more than I do. He was sicker than I was. I never tested positive, But I was tested very early in my symptoms and didn’t get restested because I had already been quarantined with him for 14 days, so we knew that’s what it was, and tests were scarce at that time. Not sure if we have residual effects, we feel normal, but one thing I’ve noticed lately is that I can handle much spicier food than I used to be able to. No idea it it’s related! I didn’t feel like I lost my sense of taste when I was sick, but Steve did.

MS had all the conventional symptoms except for coughing and fever. 3 negative tests. She's now about day 25, and largely recovered, back to work, and feeling better, but still no sense of taste (after all, she married me) or smell. The tests are only around 80% accurate, and very much depend on when they are taken as to whether any trace is detectable. Her doc told her his wife wasn't tested positive until day 31.

I, and the boys, tested negative -- I had very minor symptoms of something -- and we're all doing well.

@Ivorythumper glad she is feeling mostly back to normal. Wonder if you could get an antibody test (or whatever it’s called) at some point. I was told the only way to get one here is to donate blood, but luckily they’ve added them to our well check panel (which we can do every 6 months). Apparently there are several people at Steve’s place of work that have antibodies, but don’t remember being sick.

I'm on a team working on a wastewater test, hopefully will have more than 80% confidence. There's two locations on the genome that have been identified as COVID, known colloquially as N1 and N2. Then there's a control. The wastewater control is different than the one used in individual human testing.

@Horace our county does wastewater tests. They are very high, apparently. Do I understand correctly that the numbers go up there before known case numbers go up?

I think that some colleges in the US are using that to try and minimal outbreaks.

Thanks for all the good wishes!

Trish has had 3 PCR tests, all negative, on day 4, 7 and 11 (day count after onset of symptoms) .

I had a PCR on about day 15, negative, and at the same time the blood draw (antibody) also negative. I was tested after about 2 weeks of first symptoms and 4 days after I felt clear of symptoms.

Here's a chart my doc gave me, which shows the viral load , of how it dips around day 7 and hides out for a few days. So timing is important. By day 30 or so the PCR effectiveness tapers off but the antigen should be more reliable.

I'd be happy for anyone who really understands this chart to correct any misunderstanding.agnone covid chart r.jpg

In addition my best friend and wife tested positive. It is day 10 or so for him and he is having pretty severe symptoms of tiredness, weakness, fever over 100 for several days straight and can't keep any solid food down, He can only hold a cup of coffee or his phone for maybe 60 seconds and has to set them down. Body and skin is aching and painful. Can't walk much more than a dozen steps before stopping to rest.

I am hoping he doesn't have breathing or heart problems from this, or cognitive deficit, when it's past. Thank goodness he is not having worse breathing issues.

Doc put MS on steroids to open the breathing and antibiotics to fight secondary infection / pneumonia.

Took two rounds of different antibiotics, and a second short burst of high dose steroid to get her better. Prayers for your friend and family.
