On a Mac-related mailing list, a discussion came up about how to mail large attachments. Pretty much everyone said you shouldn't, and use an alternate method.

Some people said Dropbox, others suggested various cloud-based services.

One that seems to get good reviews is wetransfer.com.

It's a free service that allows you to upload a file, enter the email of the recipient who has 7 days to download it. After that time, it's deleted. I'm going to give it a try and see how it works.

It's "free", so you are their product.
Seriously, why add another middleman to transfer a file?
If you're already an iCloud user and already has tons of personal info entrusted to Apple, you can also use iCloud for file transfer.
If you're already a Gmail user and already has tons of personal info entrusted to Google, use Google Drive.
      Ditto Microsoft/OneDrive, etc.
All these services allow you to "share" file by sending a download link to the recipient.

Now if you want to use a fourth party service for convenience, yeah I can see the attraction. From data privacy/security perspective, I am not keen on adding a fourth party to transfer a file. 🤷

Mailing a USB stick via UPS has always worked for me.

        I was only joking

This is not for anything sensitive etc. A video or something like that. What attracted me is the fact that the file disappears after 7 days and I dont have to pay attention to my storage.

They disappear a lot faster than that if you use UPS.

I use Onedrive both at work and home, and don't have problems, but I don't want files disappearing on me, admittedly.
