But - most voters don't participate or share those views. (Or perhaps didn't before continued exposure)

Yeah but human beings can’t help but click on the salacious stuff and the algorithms pick up on pre viral spread and amplify it such that they get ad revenue so it is a feature not a bug that the minority get way over represented.
