Keith Jarrett can’t play piano anymore

That must be awful. Oscar Peterson had a fairly big stroke 14 years before he died, but managed to adapt his style to a more one-handed approach so that he could still play.

The article says Mr. Jarrett thinks he may not be able to perform publicly anymore. While sad, that does not rule out Mr. Jarrett still retaining the ability to play the piano, just maybe not at a level that he deems “publicly presentable” by his own standard at this time. There is still much enjoyment to be had even if one plays only for oneself, and in time, maybe Mr. Jarrett can find a way to adapt and feel comfortable playing in public again. For that, I am optimistic and wish him the best.
