Had quite a shock at the grocery store today

$5.99 per pound for how much bananas?
Need to normalized the price to per-pound pricing or I cannot decide whether it is a shock.
Typically I expect bananas to sell at $0.59 per pound and $0.49 per pound is considered a discount. Price clubs like Costco and BJ’s Warehouse can sometimes go a bit lower, something like $1.29 for pre-packaged three-pound bunch but you have to buy at three point increments.
