Actually it is a double holiday....

Columbus Day, and Indigenous People Day.

And they said irony was dead.......,

Let’s just call it Columbus Meets Indigenous People Day.

Not a coincidence. Berkeley invented indigenous peoples day in 1992 to counter Columbus Day.

While the Berkeley and 1992 aren’t generally known, I think everyone realizes it was defined to counter and eventually replace Columbus day.

Frankly Columbus Day has always struck me as too ethnic.

Yeah, named back when Italians were the marginalized people and it was time to name an Italian hero. The irony is dripping.

I have no problem with celebrating the fact that America was "discovered" by an Italian guy who was funded by the Spaniards and never set foot on the continent.

I do have a problem with the Dagos Wops Greaseballs Italians appropriating it as their own.

Yeah. Columbus day is all about Caucasian, not Italian.

                    Ask any Indian.

When was the last time the Italians won a war without changing sides half way through?

Our empire lasted a lot longer than yours is going to.

Also, in all those hundreds of years of dominance, and with admittedly vast amounts of inbreeding, we were never once ruled by somebody who sprayed himself with fake suntan.
