With about 240,000 ballots mailed, that meant one in five voters received a wrong ballot. The error happened Saturday afternoon when someone changed a setting on a machine that places absentee ballots into mailing envelopes, Franklin County elections officials said Thursday.

In NY a vendor error lead to people being sent the wrong person’s ballot. It’s being corrected but how many people won’t notice? That basically takes away both people’s vote. Now you might think the recipient could just vote the erroneous ballot, but the signature would be an obvious mismatch so it would get tossed.

Note though that these errors lead to systematic undercounting of mail-in votes.
The vendors who make these errors need to be investigated.
