Thanks for asking. No worse, and only marginally better. Fatigue is OK, but SOB persists.

Her biggest problem is the parosmia. So many things that she'd like to eat smell like vomitus or rotting meat. She's in a "Long COVID" clinic, and they're working on retraining her sense of smell.

            It's been 5 ½ months.

I was watching Fauci last night on CSPAN in some sort of congressional inquiry. The question was on therapy as a strategy vs just vaccine.... he said long covid is just not understood yet and there are so many different long covid symptoms but they are working on finding what is common. Food as smelling rotten came up, I didn’t know it was a thing.

Just curious, what about foods that she used to find unappetizing? Has she find any food that smells good to her, even if it’s food that she used to dislike?

Is this long term problem caused by the virus still being alive or by damage, still recovering, that the virus caused a long time ago.

You know, this reminds me of when we used to do a floater. No matter what you did, you couldn't get rid of that smell in your nostrils and food didn't taste right for a day or two.

Months of something like that must be absolutely maddening....God Bless her...

Sorry to hear it. Good news is the marginal improvement, the bad news is obvious.

George, what is SOB? Certainly not my usual understanding of that acronym in your context.

I would think that she is losing weight, since she must force herself to eat. That would be so awful. Not the weight loss, I'm always looking to lose weight. But to have food smell and taste awful, that's crewel.

                          Thanks, Covid!! You SOB.

George, there are more and more articles finally coming out about long COVID. Even Mayo is starting to address this, and they are often late adopters of things like this, which I find frustrating. It's encouraging to see it gain attention, and perhaps more scrutiny for treatment options.

There is some news coming out that the vaccine may help alleviate long symptoms. I wonder if it’s like some other viruses that hide.

Luke’s sense of taste is finally back to 100% as of tonight, but his sense of smell is still off. This is 4 months after an extremely mild case.
