I had the annual physical today. The doctor mentioned that if you are 55 to 80 years old and smoked for 30 years you get a cat scan to check for cancer.

I thought, great, I wondered what that might show.

But then he remembered that if it has been more than 15 years since you smoked you don't get it. I guess they figure if you made it more than 15 years you are probably OK.

They got my hopes up for a little while.

I'd ask for it. I like surprises, but not that way.

Lucily I have had scans for other reasons, but I smoked for 8 years and quit 44 years ago.

I had a ct scan in August.

I quit smoking 13 years ago next Tuesday.

Funny how (all of us) ex-smokers remember the day, isn't it?

            May 23, 1986 for me.

Wow. Mine was St. Patrick’s day that year.

I did a vascular ultrasound last year for no particular reason other than to wonder if my diet had to change for the last decades. Thankfully exercise had been more than offsetting.

                I almost didn’t do it.

                    April 1st, 2000.

It was chosen after some thought.

                    I was only joking

I figure when I’m 90 I’ll start. Get in ten pack years and quit at 100.

That has been my plan too.
