      2nd debate cancelled:

I wonder what the up/down sides are for each candidate:

Biden: "Trump tested positive and was hospitalized with the virus. He's unreasonable and dangerous."

Trump: "Scully is a biased, self-confirmed Never-Trumper. I'm glad it's cancelled because it would never be fair. MAGA, baby!"

Also, most seem to think that Trump did himself more harm than good after the last debate. Minimizing exposure might minimize losses.

Me: "It's 2020. What the hell did you expect?"

I wonder what the revenue loss is for the networks and social media with the loss of 80m+ eyeballs.

            Nate Silver:

Our research on primary debates suggested that a debate is equivalent to something like six to 10 days of normal campaigning and news, in terms of how much they move the polls. So it’s as if Trump is taking a week off the clock in an election in which he trails by 10 points.

              Our research on PRIMAY debates

Do they have similar data on presidential debates?

I doubt it or he’d cite it.

Regardless of the number I like the analogy to extra time on the clock.

Which underscores the monumental stupidity of Trump canceling to begin with.

                  I get your point.

I'd like to see data on how much final debates really change voters' minds.

I'm not defending Trump's decision to do refuse, or the Commission's decision to cancel. Just wondering how much it will, ultimately, matter. To add to what I said earlier, Trump's supporters will say, "Fuck you! We don't need no debates." Biden's supporters will say, "He's a coward, and afraid to talk to us!"

Do you think the cancellation will change anyone's mind?

He cancelled I would imagine because it was shaping up to be a setup. The moderator is a former Biden staffer or something to do with Biden, a man who has made it clear that he doesn't like Trump and is a Biden supporter. They want to arrange it where they can feed answers to Biden with a teleprompter.

You either know that and are willing to trade your own integrity to support your politics, or you don't know that, which would be sad if I actually believed that. You know full well that it's an attempt by the democrats to cheat. So don't ever claim you're a centrist again.

You don’t need a grand conspiracy to explain the move to virtual when the president has an active Covid infection
