SCOTUS strikes down key prvision of VRA

That is a tough one. To me, it seems like the districts drawn by the various states are all about politics. If you want to get more black people in a district, probably it is done so that the democrats will win that district.
So, what is the argument used to draw up the districts now like is being done in Texas, Calif, etc. Strictly politics? But how do you avoid race when doing this?

The same people who celebrated the proposed gerrymandered map of Virginia last week are tearing out their hair over this.
If one wants to look at "fairness" and "democracy" (yes, the quotes are intentional), one need look no farther than Massachusetts and other New England states.
But, that's not the point....
Should congressional representation be based on race? Should Harvard admissions be based on race?
And, @taiwan_girl , yeah, it's all about politics. It's not bean ball, you know.
