Sardinia, we're bringing a unicorn

Wait till my Sardinian neighbors get a load of a real pianoforte. Made in America baby! 1966 SD-10. A piano made right in the middle of their best work, with Bechstein builders to help, they retired the SD-06 and collaborated together to make a Baldstein, like a Frankenstein. Every where I read or view, if any of them talk about having a go on one of these mid 60's sd-10's, they stop and quickly state best fucking grand piano in the world Fuckin A. Mint , beautiful case, thickest ribs I ever saw. biggest soundboard I ever saw. I got to be careful with pictures because he thinks he's fat and doesn't want it to show , so I have to get the angles right, cuz he's bearin a load behind that music desk, lol. 9 fucking feet!!! Go big or go to your grave.
A piano worth well over 100,000. well over, but with the perception problem and no demand for them I guess. I paid him what he wanted $17,500, and now I am going to pay his mover to take it from there and to my container and wrap it up good and tight for a long voyage. I kid you all not. This piano will step into the ring right now against any heavyweight. The seller is an older Iranian who lived in Germany for 30 years making Bechsteins. He lives in a semi mansion on top of the hill looking over Laguna Beach, -

Congrats!!! That piano was made in Cincinnati while my dad was their advertising director, so it’s a family connection for me.

i had asked you in my piano thread if you recalled the Cincinnati factory. I guess so!

I had some intuition about who this man was. I was 100 percent right after I met him. He had 5 9 footers in a huge living room, including a newer Baldwin , i think1996. When i asked about that one, he said that one is his. haha. There was a Estonia 1997 I believe and I sat at that for a while after the baldwin and immediately, said to myself, decent furniture. This was before Dr. Laul (sp?) came in and turned Estonia around. When I was looking over his Baldwin I noticed his had these huge brass double wheel castors on the legs but mine had tiny original casters that didn't look encouraging for when I need to move it around. I had asked if I could throw some brasso on them to shine them up and he insisted do NOT do that to theml. It would gum up their turning ability. As we moved over to the Estonia a bit later he motioned over to a table that had 3 more of these huge castors. He said I could have them. This, after he had just got done telling me that they cost $1500 each. He just gave over $4500 of gear to me! This man is not in it for the profit, he is in it for the love of what he does. And the results of his regulation, voicing work done to my piano made it sublime. everything in perfect order. No squeaks or buzzes anywhere. And when I hit a low octave C forcefully and held it, it was 1 minute before the sound stopped.

if i had known a lamp askew would draw more attention than this man eating piano, I would have straightened it but that would mean getting dangerously close to its jaws. Ever have a 9 foot piano lid come down on you and start going chomp chomp chomp? I hope the sea voyage calms him. If it doesn't Sardinia certainly will.
