Trauma at Big Bear Lake

I've been watching the feed of the bald eagles since Jodie posted it last year, when we got two more eagles successfully fledge.

The remnants of the Raven's body to be shown later.
The eagles are killing machines - when the chicks are hatched they bring up 2-3 fish a day, and quite a few coots.
The raven couldn't believe it's luck - she'd left the nest for a couple of hours for some reason, but it was still very cautious.

Oh no!! I just started watching again, but saw that the nest was unguarded for quite awhile this afternoon.

I'm not convinced that Jackie is quite as fantastic a parent as her followers on Facebook think she is. As they were posting about how humans could learn a thing or two about parental responsibility and the beauty of nature, a raven had its beak right in one of her eggs. It was enormously upsetting, but to be honest she doesn't seem to care that much.

One of the things they are saying is that the birds may have known the eggs were unviable, and that’s why they left them alone. Not sure is that is accurate, but it’s possible.

She's back on the remaining egg now, but who knows?
