@George-K said in Third of British musicians may quit industry amid pandemic:

A survey of 2,000 members of the Musicians’ Union found that 34% “are considering abandoning the industry completely”

...at a total cost to the economy of $750.00

    I was only joking

My son is part of the Austin music scene. Even in a state as open as Texas has been, the bar owners and musicians are hurting.

I can just imagine what it would be like in an area with stricter rules.

A FB friend of mine is a gigging musician in the UK, and hasn't played live since March.

Yep. I have a FB friend in NOLA. She finally did a live concert last Saturday.

She and an assorted group of musicians do "Live from the Living Room" pretty much every Monday night. They set up a virtual tip jar, and I Venmo some bucks when I watch.

Sometimes it's not "Live from the Living Room" but "Live from Satan's Attic."

Go to 41:40 to see what they can do without rehearsal.

I have a couple friends in the Virginia Symphony Chorus. Recently they were wondering if the organization would survive.

Here is a story from last week about VA Symphony furloughs

Many careers rely on a strong economy. Identify if you are in one of those and plan accordingly.

Yeah. She and I have become pretty good FB friends - we exchange a message at least once a week. The trumpet player is the guitarist's dad.

I look forward to her stuff every week. You never know who she's going to be playing with, tho Stoo (yes, "Stoo") the bass player is there almost every time.

You know the unwritten law of live music?

"If a band has an upright bass, you know it's going to be good."

Even more important than an upright bass, is an upright bass player.

                    Sometimes harder to find....

Wonderful link, George. Loved your request. Brought back memories of when I used to sing that to my baby girl. Sweet times.
