I wonder if she brings a pitcher of lemonade on a tray out to the men when they do the yard work, while she is wearing her pearls.

I make treats for the guys when we have a project. No pearls are worn when serving the treats.

About as harmless a hobby as can be. My daughter has a friend who dresses like a 40's-50's pinup girl a lot and has that same vibe.
Really dug the kitchen.

The Kitchen-Aid mixer is perfect. I like my 7qt model better for the extra capacity and power, but the older ones were great, too, and they were probably built tougher.@brenda said in Living in the 50s.:

That's what I've read about the older ones. That's why older ones are still sold on ebay, especially if they were actually made by Hobart.

Speaking of living in the 1950s, we've been plagued with balky, cantankerous, fussy refrigerators (GE Profile). I have purchased service agreements, thinking that that cost will be more than easily offset by any service calls I needed (I've been right, by the way).
The last time a guy came out to fix the ice maker, I asked him "What's the best, most reliable refrigerator to buy?"
He said, "Your mother's."

I've got a Sears (Daewoo) refrigerator. I asked the last guy who worked on it the same question and was told nobody makes a really good refrigerator anymore.
