That's how a lot of folks look at Harbor Freight tools. Sloppy tolerances, crappy motors, home owner quality.

If that's what you think, you ain't been in the Freight, lately.

Yeah, I still buy cheap stuff there, like a paintbrush you use once and chunk, but some of their stuff has gotten pretty good. I now see more tradespeople shopping there. The Doyle line of pliers is used by working electricians, the Icon tools are used by mechanics, the Admiral blades are bought by carpenters and the Hercules line of power tools are used by several professions. In fact, the Hercules miter saw may be the best jobsite saw currently sold.

With the introduction of their new credit card, I've heard of a lot of guys walking away from the Snap-On and Mac trucks.

Snap-On and Mac are great tools, but they have always been quite pricey. Their advantage was going to the workplace. I've bought considerable stuff from Harbor over the years, some good, some not so much. But if you don't make your living with them you do not need top of the line tools.

I bought a 3 ton, low-profile, long reach, floor jack from HF last year. It is awesome. Even if my S500 air shocks are deflated due to sitting for a month or more, or have failed and need to be replaced, this thing will reach all the way to the center jack point under the rear of the engine bay. I have found no other jack that will do that.

I have that jack, but mine is a beautiful orange, instead of Kawasaki green.😏
