Don't think I'm posting any spoiler here, but hiding it just in case.

    ***click to reveal***

    click to show

Me thinks the studio is trying a more cheerful, funnier reboot of not just Superman, but the entire DCU franchise.

Superman's costume, his fortress of solitude, and the robots inside, the Superdog ... all look very retro, like those shown in the older comics and made-for-TV animated features.

The color palette, the comedic superheroes, the contrived/cringy joke lines ... they look like the studio is intending to create a sunnier and funnier DC cinematic universe (at least for the superheroes), a clear departure from the dark/brooding/tortured portrayals of Batman/Superman in recent films that starred Bale/Affleck/Cavill.

Oh, definitely. And it was very well done. Zach Snyder came in wanting to create the dark tone and character from comics like The Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, and Injustice. The thing he never understood was the only reason those darker visions succeeded was because of the contrast these one-off elseworld stories had with the light hearted and more optimistic universe where the the heroes are heroes. Not gritty, not dark, but light and fun.

James Gunn knocked it out of the park with this one.

Dean Cain doesn't like it, so it's also got that going for it.

Remember, Superman was an illegal alien.

He also wears his underwear on the outside his clothes, and gets undressed in a phone box so he's neurologically diverse.

So hard to find a "phone box" these days. (Dr. Who also has an anachronism issue with the "phone box.")
Harder than finding a "newspaper company" for Clark Kent to work at. 🤷

Three locations in southern Alberta- Blackie, Benyon and Barons, all south of Calgary. Have probably driven through one or two of them in the past. Used to really like travelling around the prairie south of Calgary.

Even if there were official adoption papers, most likely the Kansas farmers lied or otherwise omitted pertinent facts concerning the adoption (e.g., the fact that the adoptee was not naturally birthed on US soil), hence leaving naturalization defects in Clark Kent's citizenship, rendering it vulnerable to revocation.

No lies. The Kansas farmers found the infant abandoned. While not typical, it wasn’t unheard of and many abandoned infants were adopted and given birth certificates. Once a birth certificate is registered, that’s it. Just ask Bari.
