What's that, about 30p a day?
I suppose the BBC World Service on radio is still free for you?I pay £174.50 for a TV licence which is about 48p a day.
I have for some years contemplated the value of their services, as neither of my children watch live TV so don't pay the BBC licence.
I just stopped our £50 monthly subscription to Sky tv and have not missed it! -
The BBC certainly attempts to be factual, with information checked, and it states the source of the news.
It asks hard questions of all sides better than all others except France 24 which has similar ideals and I also trust for truth.
Does balance get in the way of truth?

I just went to the site and no paywall. Do you get it on TV or something?
It kicks in if you try and read a story. You can see the summary pages for free.
Edit - odd, it lets me into the site on my home PC, but blocks me when I'm at work.

It does tend to toady up to the royals a bit much for my liking. You'd think the Coronation was the most important thing that had happened in centuries, and that pretty much the entire population spent the entire weekend waving moist little Union Flags as though their very lives depended on it. In Manchester, at least, which I was coincidentally visiting at the time, the reality felt somewhat different.
It also sometimes seems to forget that relatively minor news stories about the BBC itself aren't necessarily the foremost things on people's minds.

No BBC subscription fee in this country.
No indication in the pipe of one either. Certainly not for World Service news.

I may end up paying, particularly if they start charging for BBC sounds, which makes my drive to work bearable.
For TV, I subscribe to Britbox (not BBC, but provides access to a lot of BBC shows), which is worth every penny.

I am guessing that you are not talking about this website? 555
Many years ago, I came across this and bookmarked. Quite interesting with a lot of unusual and different sound effects.

for example
Aircraft: Trident - Exterior. Taxi up & past.
Bottles - Barman setting out bar, background traffic
Birds: Pigeons - Pigeons: Flying, Chasing in coop.
