Yeah except Bill Barr didn't say anything asinine.
Right, because being told to stay at home is a way worse attack on your civil liberty than being sent to die in Vietnam.
'Other than slavery' - what about the Jim Crow laws? You think the stay at home laws are worse than that?

Since you didn't understand that being sent to war is not a violation of civil liberties, I assume you also simply overlooked the fact that Barr said "other than slavery", which would include Jim Crow laws.

Being sent to war is not a violation of anyone's civil liberties.
That's easily the dumbest thing I've read today, and you're up against some pretty stiff competition.

It sounds dumb to you because you are quite obviously ignorant of the facts. I suggest you read up on the matter of military service requirements in the US.

Somebody sure got upset about that chicken joke

The Jim crow laws were established in 1874 and repealed in 1965. Slavery was abolished in 1833. Jim Crow and slavery ain't the same thing at all.

Because the Vietnam draft was constitutional doesn't mean it wasn't tyrannical. People were sent to jail if they didn't want to go, right?

No, but any rational thinker should be aware that when Barr said "except for slavery" he was referring to the whole thing.

I think that's pushing it a bit. If I said 'America had slavery until 1965' you'd say I was an idiot.
