Luke’s started going to a gym three times a week with a buddy. That’s great, except the gym is based around rock climbing. All the equipment is based around building the muscles needed for climbing, and half the workout is actually “rock climbing”…

Probably safe with padded floors etc. The issue is when he wants to do it for real

My son did rock climbing for a year or so before C19. Became quite the nimble spider. Great workout for the body and mind.

          Well yeah, that’s the concern…

He probably thinks Alex Honnold is a badass and dreams about free climbing El Capitan.

            Sorry I’m not helping,….

My brother did until about 70, probably 40 years. He’d still be doing it at 73 except he lost all strength in his left arm. Killed his guitar playing too. Very safe if you use proper equipment.

A person doesn’t even need to climb for the workout. Many just climbed around the room - known as bouldering - never exceeding 10’ from the floor for an hour intense workout.

And it is intense. I’ve hauled my big carcass up a wall.

I know, I tried bouldering with the kid. Discovered it required muscles I didn’t know existed and an abundance of flexibility and stamina that I no longer had.

Damn kid could crawl on the ceiling like a fly….

Bouldering is exactly where he’s starting, but it’s 20ft walls. But they are planning on doing some smaller climbs…

At 20 ft he must be harnessed.

When Nick bouldered there was no harness just a wall height limit. Nothing other than gymnasts chalk for his hands
