I think it is fair to say he was being purposefully and stupidly provocative at an extremely sensitive anti-war protest rally.
Probably removed and held overnight by police for his own safety. All charges were dropped.

To be succinct, seems he was a numpty looking for trouble by holding someone elses placard.
