Thailand has a QR code payment system. You have to have a Thai bank account and Thai mobile phone #to use, and the system is regulated by the Central Bank.
Vendors have a QR code, which you scan, enter the payment, and show the vendor on your phone that the payment was successful.
Everybody and I mean everybody uses it. The guys pushing the street cart selling ice cream for USD0.50 has it. Restaurants have it. I asked a restaurant owner if there was a commission for it on either buyer or seller, and he told me no.
