On December 23, 2024, Biden commuted the sentences of 37 of the 40 men on federal death row, including Sanders.

So, because they were on death row, they got to go free, but if the original sentence had been life in prison, they'd still be there. Yep, sounds about right. It's long been the case that we give extra special care to the cases of those on death row, that is not given to the cases of those who are rotting in prison until they die.

On the bright side, the jail cook in Harrisonburg (the Parish seat) is really good.

He was still in prison, just not on death row. It boggles the mind how the Biden administration supported circumventing the justice system in order to make a statement about capital punishment while vigorously supporting abortion rights.
