      @blondie

      It was pretty wet out there all last week and only started to clear off on Saturday. Frankly not surprised the slide happened where it did - that area took the brunt of the wildfire two years ago and much of the mountain side has been stripped of vegetation..

        Glad you weren't in the middle of that. Though besides for the mudslide it looks like pretty beautiful country.

          Yikes… Did it wash out that section of road as well? Does not look like an area with many detours…

            Yes from what people there are saying a stretch of the road was washed down into the lake. It’s the only road on that side of the lake. Big problem for people who live north of the slide and work in Kelowna. They now have to travel close to 60 miles one direction to get to work. That road cuts 45 miles off their commute.

                  FFS, that lake looks like it’s about 200 feet from the road? And it looks to be pretty heavily wooded. That pickup would have had to have hit and gone through more than a couple of fairly mature trees on the way to the lake, and even then for the truck to driven far enough out to be 150 feet deep? That would have been a terrifying couple of minutes. I hope the original impact drove them into unconsciousness.

                    Yep. It’s a narrow road often over top
                    a steep wooded mountainside directly into what is the deepest part of the lake. No beach. Just a straight drop into the drink. Vehicle and people wouldn’t stand a chance in a mudslide.

                      @Renauda Wow!!! Glad that you were okay.

                      It is weird how some things happen, and if you were there a second/day/week earlier or later, the outcome would have been very different.
