Colleges will always be rigged toward the rich. There's no way around that. I don't know enough about SFFA to know whether or not the authors have a point or not, but I do know that under a DEI based process that high achieving Asian students have been bumped for low-achieving minorities, so injustice occurs in both scenarios. At what point do we truly go to a meritocracy? Is DEI really sending the right message?

Still, if you look at our current VP you can see it is possible to overcome your circumstances. I know Middletown very very well and it is an easy town to go down the wrong path. Here's an innately bright kid, but he DID THE RIGHT THINGS to help himself. There will never, ever be any institutional substitute for that.
You can put the opportunity in front of kids but they have to grab it.

When you make an argument like that, you really ought to also consider families with three, four, five, or even more parents.

When you make an argument like that, you really ought to also consider families with three, four, five, or even more parents.
Less anyone think my comment above was flippant, consider the effects of having one or two aunts/uncles to help parent the children; consider the effects of having one, two, three, or all four grandparents around to help parent the children. That's even before getting into economically affluent families that may hire multiple full-time nannies, butlers, and other round-the clock professional caregivers and household help.
It is intellectually rather lazy to merely argue that "two parents are better than one" and then just stop at "two parents." Careful study or the matter demands that one also look very closely into the scenarios of having three, four, five, or even more "parents."

I'm cleaning my pump right now. Had a crow aggravate my barn cat and that's crossing the line. I'll nail the crow up in the garden tomorrow. Crows are smart, they avoid a dead crow.
So, if I had violent tendencies towards the lad right now, I'm afraid the end result would be permanent. Best not to do that, as he may have some redeeming qualities.
