I don't suppose Elon bothered to verify whether those people were getting checks, before posting that.

      Education is extremely important.

Some of those seem like they could only be typos in the birth year. Some would have been born 200+ years before the founding of Social Security. There never would have been a time when they were entered into the system while living.

It does seem inevitable that some people somewhere have let grandma die, not reported it, dealt with the mortal remains themselves, and keep spending the checks.

Nope, I don't think he did.

But I don't know why such data sets exist at the extremes. Part of the beauty of DOGE, is all of the stuff we're finding out. Some will turn out to be nothing, some will be important and need to be addressed and some will fall under the heading of What the hell were they thinking?

Besides the obvious desire of hoping we can effectively fix some of these larger problems, I wish for a couple of things:

            1. For Congress to do their jobs. In light of Chevron, Congress needs to step up and fill the role accorded them in the Constitution. And I'd like to see that done under a balanced budget.

            2. A line item veto. It works well at the state level and I think it's time for one at the Federal level.

Musk has already proven that he backs up the reason for his efforts with rhetorical lies and no proof to back them. Just feeding the base their juicy bones to chew on while nodding their heads and thanking God for this savior.

My brother texted me that the reason for some of the advanced ages was that if it was missing the old COBOL code calculates and stores dates as a certain number of days past May 20, 1875. He of course used this to question the competence of Musk's young resources. So if a date or the year was missing it would look like the person was 150 years old this year. That was true in very old versions of COBOL but hasn't been for a long time. In any event that data should never have been able to get through an even reasonably coded piece of software, so I don't buy that it was just a computer glitch, more like years of incompetence. Even a cursory reasonableness check would catch it. The fact remains it is still out there and has not been cleaned up.
