...and is roundly condemned for it. He's right. If you get drafted number 1 you are going to a bad team. probably very bad.

There could be a difference between a bad team and a team with a loser culture. I'm sure it happens, but the motivation to excel should always be strong for each individual player, with all that money on the line in future contracts with that team or another team.

      Education is extremely important.

In general, yes. But is #2 significantly better than #1? Not really, yet the #2 draft pick last year took the Commanders all the way to the NFC Championship this year. They couldn’t have been too bad of a team.

That's the exception proving the rule. They also hired a new coach which made all the difference.

Plus they got rid of their racism name. That must have helped.

@Mik said in Cam Newton tells the truth:

6 of the last 10 #1 Draft Picks were in the playoffs within 2 seasons of being drafted, including Cincinnati’s own Joe Burrow, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, Trevor Lawrence, Jared Goff, and Travon Walker. Another couple made it while still on their rookie contracts. It is statistically likelier that a #1 draft pick will wind up on a contender than a team of scrubs…
