      True story:

I've probably been sued about 6-7 times. All of them were dismissed except one which went to trial (and my partner and I won, by the way).

During the trial, the plaintiff put up a large (2 foot by 3 foot) copy of the anesthesia record.

During the defense part of the case, our attorney (my partner and I were both being sued), put up the same exhibit that the plaintiff's attorney had put up.

"Dr. R, does this reflect your anesthesia record?"

      "Yes it does."

"For the jury can you tell us what these marks and comments mean?"

      (Dr. R explains comments)

"Dr. R, did you go to a Catholic school?"

      "Yes, I did."

      "And this is your handwriting?"

      "Yes."

      "The nuns, allowed this?"

My parter shrinks in the witness's chair."

      Jury laughs.

      Then, it was my turn.

"Dr. K. Is this an accurate representation of your comments on the anesthesia record?"

      Me: "Yes, it is."

"Dr. K, did you go to a Catholic school as well?"

      Me: "Yes, I did."

My attorney walked away from the easel holding the record, shaking his head.

      Jury laughs.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
