I am wondering …
Pretty much all consumer electronic products have to go through various certifications before being allowed to be sold on the open market. E.g., UL safety certification, FCC Part 15 do-no-harm electromagnetic emission certification, etc. maybe there should now be a cybersecurity certification for products that can connect to a communication network?
The other possibility is a big national firewall that can potentially block all cross-border communications.
Neither is easy or cheap, and both come with “big government” implications.
